Belize 2024 April 6 – 20. Reluctant Travels

I am traveling to Belize for the third time.  The first was in 2005 with some family to a failing Time Share near Hopkins.  the second time was in 2015 in the Mayan Mountains near Punta Gorda – far Southern end of Belize (many posts in this blog show the jungle I was in for two weeks in the Mayan Mountain Permaculture/medical trip.

This time i’m going to the most touristy area of Belize – Amberges Cay, an island just north of the airport inBelize City- the Capital of Belize.

Why?

I love Belize!  It’s a 4+ hour direct flight from Chicago (only direct on Saturdays), perfect weather, wonderful clear warm water that provides some of the best swimming/snorkeling in the world.  the Country has the largest “living” barrier reef in the world culminating in the “Blue Hole” – one of the natural wonders the world. Being the former British Honduras, the People are wonderful, language is English and everything is pegged to the US dollar. The time zone is the same as Chicago, and the weather is spectacular!  I anticipate 75-85 degree days and nights with no rain until the short rainy season in the late summer.

The year 2023 was the worst year I have ever had!
