We arrived after dark last evening, and all is well. I tried to blog, but for some reason things are not working with the internet or just the broadband is just not broad enough. I opologize but I will try to get something worked out. I think it was trying to do it through my phone.

The day started at 5 am woith the roosters joining in with the dogs in the neighborhood. All five in my room snore and the bunk beds are a bit small. After a hearty breakfast prepared by Mountain to Mountain’s cooks. We then loaded all of the twenty 50 pound bags full of supplies we brought along and our back packs and sent the truck to the Clinic. I can’t decide wether it is up or down, because the rest of us then took off on the rocky trail. The hike is about 2.2 miles (my fit bit is working) and leads down from the group house to this very wide = maybe 200 yards – riverbed. Then it is straight up – a 6-8 degree incline the rest of the way. What a hike! I was totaly drenched by the time we arrived. We then changed into scrubs for the days work.

A line was already established of about 100, awaiting care. the nine primary care providers – two doctors and seven nurse practitioners set up stations and were backed up by the remaining nurses and non-professionals. Several of us went about the task of unpacking supplies and setting up the supply room. One task that I was assigned for 4 hours was to count and repack antacid tablets and vitamines. I don’t think i will run out of this task, a bag of 25,000 vitamins was brought and they had to be repacked into a 30 day baggie. Things went well, i took a lot of photos, and we saw approximately 150 patients.

Weather was threatening, and we left for home about 4 pm. The walk back was much more difficult as it had rained and the rough stone (about the size of your fist) path was incredibly slippery, and everyone was tired. We took a “bath” and now we are awaiting dinner. I will send this without photos now.
